The Hypnosis Society of Alberta was registered under the society's act of Alberta in 1966 making it one of North America's oldest hypnosis societies. It was the first organization created for the purpose of increasing the practice of hypnosis in Canada.
Membership is open to anyone with an innterest in hypnosis and personal growth in general. The Hypnosis Society of Alberta has many professional hypnotherapists but is not restricted to only professionals. We do offer a few professional workshops.

BY-LAWS
MEMBERSHIP:

Individual Members:
CLASSES: There shall be four classes of membership:
a. PROFESSIONAL ,
b. STUDENT ,
c. SUPPORT,
d. HONORARY, and
e. LIFE MEMBERSHIP
Required Qualifications: Applications for election to membership in a Branch shall be considered by the Provincial Executive on the following basis:
Professional Membership:
A.) When deemed necessary for Professional designation applicants may be required to pass a written and/or practical test, that is, demonstrate written, verbal and practical proficiency in Hypnosis as prescribed by the Provincial Executive.
B.) The applicant shall have been a Student Member in good standing of a Branch for a period of not less than one full year.
C.) Upon completion of 100 hours of Hypnosis training a Student Member may register by filling their application and provide evidence of their Hypnosis training.
D.) The Grandfather Clause is in effect for one year from ratification of this amendment. That is, applicants, who have been practicing Hypnosis for 5 or more years, may be deemed Professional by a 75% majority vote.
This Grandfather Clause is in effect ONLY until November 9, 2010.
E.) The requirements of b) of this section may be waived by a 75% majority vote of the Provincial Executive, on recommendation from an examining board that this applicant has satisfactory qualifications and experience to entitle them to Professional membership.

Student Membership:
A.) The applicant shall meet the basic qualifications prescribed in (6.) b) of this section.
B.) Upon completion of 30 hours of Hypnosis training a Student Member may register by filling their application and providing evidence of their Hypnosis training.
C.) Student Member will have voting rights and be entitled to hold office in Branches however, will not practice Hypnosis except under the guidance of a Professional Member.
D.) Student Member is a Member who studies Hypnosis.

Support Membership:
A.) Support Members need not have taken training in Hypnosis or have passed an examination.

Honorary Membership:
a) An Honorary Membership may from time to time be awarded to a person a Branch so wishes to honor. Such members will have all rights and privileges of membership except the right to vote.
b) Applications for the award of Honorary Membership shall be submitted to the Provincial Executive after approval by a 75% majority vote of Branch members.
c) Honorary Members will be absolved from the payment of fees and due's.

Life Membership:
a) Life Membership in the Society is the highest honor which can be bestowed.
b) Members granted Life membership retain all the rights and priveleges of Professional membership, including the right to vote, but shall pay no further fees or dues.
c) Life membership applications must be approved by a 75% majority vote of the Provincial Executive, after 75% approval by the Boards of Directors of Branches.

- Student Membership: Registered Membership fee is $60.00
- Support Membership: Registered Membership fee is $60.00
- Non-members: $15.00 drop in fee for general meetings. First meeting is free with coupon.
- The fee covers membership until the end of the financial year, which is in September. If a new member joins the society in March or later, the fee is halved ($50.00 for professional, $30.00 for student/support members).
